I dunno who he is, but I know they were following me because ‘Richard’ Had stabbed/killed some Polish bloke. eep

Crewe’s Most Wanted

27 10 2007

Tonight has been a little surreal for me, apologies if you are in the force for the way I talk. I have been working till 10 tonight and had plans to go t’pub to meet some colleagues. Either way I finish and I notice a Police car waiting outside my work, no problem as I thought it was waiting to turn around or keeping close to the notorious nantwich road rabble getting out of the bars.

Either way I go out back and get my bike, come back and its still there, another dibble car drives past, so I bike down t’pub and meet with my people. We get a window seat and play some pool, I notice another pig drive by the widow in their big dog van, fair enough. Another 10 minutes later and another drives past the window, then reverses stops and drives off.

Now for no real reason I start getting a little paranoid about why all these pigs are hovering around (I have nothing to hide, honest!!) another 30 mins go by and we move to the bar, I see these two blokes near the fruity keep giving me the evil eye and turning away when ever I stare back, then notice another Pig Car parked outside the window in the car park. I remark to my mates ‘Im sure im getting followed my the pigs tonight’ and we chuckle.
5 minutes later I see these guys coming towards me, i’m ready for a ruck as they look like they are going to start something, he leans in grabs my arm and launches a badge in my face, ‘Richard, stay calm put the bottle down and follow me’. Grabbed by the arms im pulled outside and backed into the corner where they tell me, that I have been followed as I look like a suspect they have been after, they shout at me to get my hands out my pockets and they grab my wallet.

Needless to say I am not who they are after and they casually give me my wallet and say your free to go!

Proper surreal I tell you, still paranoid as fook and hiding behind the curtains, yours faithfully Boydy

Long time, no blog!

21 05 2007

My Bad, I have been neglecting this due to sorting out some parts of my life, im back and will summarise the stuff thats happend.

Poker

Well, I havent played loads and loads, but the games I have played have been rather enjoyable –

Bearwood – £30 freezeout satellite to a £125 (£3k guarenteed) torn in Milton Keynes. `17 players, 4 seats guarenteed.
I love playing here as the professionalism of the Dealers and TD are second to non, we all started with 5k in chips and there was a 2k chip lifeline for anyone who busted for an extra £5. I had actually won here as I designed the most popular logo for http://www.ukpokerlife.co.uk. Eitherway after some good play, reads and lay downs I won one of the seats, so will be down in Milton Keynes come the 2nd June.

Grosvenor - Played a few times here in the meantime, had some good runs in cash and some nice tornaments. I finished 6th last night for the £15 + £15 + £15 torn, so that was a nice moral boost, but apart from that not made any recent cashes any any significance.

Other - Bought a new 32″ HD Samsung LCD TV, sweet and a bargain so all good. Gutted about the FA Cup and the Champions League but at least we won the Premier League.

Quick summary over, i have a little extra cash so expect to play a few small games, the big one in MK and anything else I can.

Grand National / Fujitsu Knee’s Up

14 04 2007

Its Saturday and the John Smiths Grand National, I have been in touch with some of me old Fujitsu Muckers and we decide to have a days session of Gambling, Eating and Boozing. We start off in Wetherspoons at 13:00 for the honest priced cold beer (its also a cracking day, so an ice cold pint is heaven).

We get some food down us and have a couple more, then about 14:30 move onto Ladbrokes to get some bets on. As I do every year, I decide to give Hedgehunter another crack and put a £3 straight win on his head and also fancy a 16/1 called Idle Talk, so place an each way £5 bet to place. Happy in our bets we move onto the Junction and have another pint, its a bit dismal and we are really after a beer garden to sup our pints.

We move onto a personnal favourite the Borough Arms at around 15:45 as they server the best forign, imports and local beers. We settle on a Belgian Cherry Beer, Tasty, Different and Refreshing and head off to the Beer Garden.

Happy Days as the weather is fantastic, almost like summer, we finish up and hop upstaires to geer on the nags. Promising start, all 4 legs in tact and there around top 10, but with 40 horses racing together and 30 big fences to jump, you can’t predict a winner yet! Final fence and there are unhappy faces all around, a 33/1 wins and non of us ahve made anything back, ohh well we can drown our sorrows in more booze and order another.

We move on about 17:00 and decide on Wetherspoons again, get some food and watch the Manchester United v Watford Match. We order another round, Big Daves deciding he needs to sober up a little as he lost a bit on the Gee Gee’s, so its 3 left drinking and we get some food in. Some more beers and the football ends United 4-1 winners, fantastic for me (being a red) and we move on again to the Waldron, have a beer, then find out that more have arrived in Wetherspoons!! Off again and its 3rd time lucky for Spoons. Another couple and im starting to feel 8 hours drinking taking effect, so have a coke to settle. its 22:30 and we move into the Limelight, im trying to dilute my self and have a couple of waters, follwed by a Cider. Getting tired and looking lathargic, I decide to leave at about 00:00 and grab a take away value box from Taz’s Kebab Shop. Head home (across the road) and watch The Marine starring John Cena or WWE Fame! It was crap and I went to bed after nailing some more water.

In summary 11 Hour Binge, 15 Pints and 3 Meals. Not a bad day, enjoyable until the end.

I’m Running www.ukpokerpaper.co.uk – A New Era!

12 04 2007

Well a strange start to the week really.

My favorite website UK Poker Info has shut down, appears that a good friend of mine who runs it had, had enough of some of the users abusing it and generally getting run down by it. Now me and quite a few others (we have been active for over a year) have managed to pump out over 30,000 posts with probably 100 users activly contributing (500 total). Now when we heard it had shut down, it was like loosing an arm as I have now lost all the contacts and what is happening in the local poker world. Basically my daily, hourly habbit on the site at work had been cut and its like taking a smokers cigs and telling him to quit, I was angry.

So after cooling down and finding myself again, I managed to negotiate with the admin of UKPI and I agreed to take the site and reserect it, basically take the bother off his hands. Another good admin cam along and we started aworking on it again – www.ukpokerpaper.co.uk was born, imported with all the previous members.

Luckily like lost sheep they started to come back and true to form in the 2 days its been up, we are back up to 411 posts, WaHey progress and pain has pulled off.

Im going to have to do a lot of work with this though as its a big site and needs to work effortlessly. Im game to make it worth though and so are the members that are present and happily posting.

Long live www.ukpokerpaper.co.uk and long live the members. See you all at the felt people and if your not a member, join up its free and there are some great pools of information ;)

Long Weekend of Booze

8 04 2007

Roll on the good weather, I have certainly been waiting for this a ’4 day’ long weekend, two bank holidays, fantastic. I ” the concept of the 4 days as I was actually working the Friday, but there wasnt a lot to do and I got Triple pay for it so its all good.

I finished work on friday at 10pm, had the boys round and polished off a crate, whilst watching the 300, which was quite good with the surround sound boosted up. A had few blasts on Pro Evo 6 and decide its time to pass out.

Saturday came and it was bright, sunny and warm – Fantastic news as it was the Nantwich Jazz festival and 20 odd pubs opening up their beer gardens and providing some class music acts to chill out and relax to. All the plans were together to set off at 1 or 2 and have an all day session, but as it panned out. All the people who were planning on coming down have decided to go to a house party, where more than likely they will be degrading themselves with either underage girlies or flopping their bits out to each other and pretending to get gay!! Neither appeal to me incidentally!

So we decide to head down as its a mate from our old high schools 23rd b-day, we head down at about 5 and proceed to drink untill we stop. A few in the Union Vaults and catch the end of the Manchester United vs Portsmouth (very disapointed as im a utd fan!!), but either way we have 3 rounds of beers and decide to move onto the Ye Olde Vaults for a few double vodka, lemonade and lagers (real mans shandy!). Top times aswel, because they had just finished a BBQ and were offering the best chinease chicken I had ever had, we gobble that down and move on. Starting to get into the mood now, we proceed over to the Shakespeare as I remember they do cheap cocktails / triples. So we order the round Triple Vodka and Orange Lucozade for £3 each yum, the kick of glucose perks me up so getting good. The we proceed to drink another 3 Triples and Red Bull (of which 1 was raced, I won naturally). One more for good luck and thats 17 Vodka’s in 1.5 hours and the good times are stating to kick in. We now proceed over to the Malbank for a couple of pints and watch the boxing, Joe Calzaghi kicked arse so all good. Its about 11pm now and we try to get into Gregorys the local dive of a nightclub, to which the mate with the birthday provides us with some ‘free’ tickets for entry.

We get to the door and are greeted by some huge beast of a women demanding we pay the £7.50 entry (rip off for a shite club), we produce the tickets, she sneers and says they are no good as we need to book before hand, she proceeds to call the manager and we have to pay. FOOK YOU GREGS. Ohh well, we are here in this dive, looking at a mountain of drunks and underage looking girls (maybe im just getting old). We drink some more and dance the night away (dance very badly!), get a taxi back around 3 and pass out after arguing over whos going to make the brews!

Sunday morning and all is good, I had rememberd to drink a couple of pints of water and low and behold, no headache or painfull liver! It did dawn on me that I had agreed to drive a mate back to Nantwich so he could pick up his car, then only to remind me that I had drove my car to another mates, 2 miles away so we could get the bus into Nantwich. The realisation hits and although itrs another cracking day, we have to walk 2 miles hungover and lazy. We set off, decide to get a bus, detour, realise the busses arnt running, set off again and finally, like a mirrage in the shimmering dessert get to my car. Drive him to Nantwich, drop off, drive back and veg out infront of the TV.

In a mad twist though I decided to wash the car as it was filthy. Now im off to bed.

What to Do?

5 04 2007

Well, im skint and awaiting a few cheques to arrive in for some website work I have done, Companys can be so cruel to the little people!

Was hoping to play the £3 rebuys @ the Grosvenor tonight, but unless I get rolled/sponsored it aint happening.

On a happy note though the Nantwich Jazz Festival is also happening this weekend, so pending the weather i should hopefully have some spare dough to drink some Scrumpy and listen to good music. If your in the Cheshire area of the UK, Id whole heardedly reccomend it to you.

PKR Spring Fest

2 04 2007

Well after recieving a mailshot from PKR advising that they were going to be hosting a week of events with Guarenteed Totals from $5k – $25k. I figured id give it a shot as I had some cash in the account. Its a completely different feeling than your standard poker site as it allows you to delve into the a 3D world full of taunts, chip tricks and the ability to see when your apponent looks aat their cards.
I feel in the world of fairness that this site is full of beginners and people wanting to look good even if they are playing like a complete donkey!

Either way, I set out for the 20:00 $25 + $2.50 buyin for the $25k Guarenteed. Approx 500 runners.

The tornament was a bit of fun in fairness, there was some friendly banter and so bravado accross the bored and my hands were pretty dead, so didn’t get to play much. I woke up when I recieved AQ of clubs in late position, we are still 10 handed, so put a 4 times BB raise in to see if the 3 limpers were serious, folds round to 4th pos where the player Orangebleu (who has been very aggressive trying to bluff and loosing), min raises. I have more than her and after the others fold I decide to call, I flop a Q,7,2 two spades. She goes all in, im priced in to call and have a major piece at this, I definatly put myself ahead and think the worst there is the flush draw. I call, she shows As 4c – Nothing, Perfect. Turns a 4s. Rivers a 8s – Runner Runner Flushed me, damn!
Now shes got chips and im down to 800 (blinds 75/150). Button comes round to me and im dealt AQoff, I push Orangebleu calls again. Fair Deux shes got AKoff. Flop 2,Q,Q. Turn K. River K. Laughable really, but im out in 400th.

Decided to move on from this and play on a $30 6 handed s ‘n’ g as I only had $35 left. Now this was better play and a respectable game. No major hands really stick out, but I came from a 2 outer bad beat and being majorly chipped down to winning the thing with good reads and aggressive play.

So $130 in the account so not bad for the day, all in all. I took another $20 from a $4 buy in on the .2/.4 Omaha PL tables as these are a great source of income, so left pleased.

the rest of the night consisted of browsing UKPI and watching the Monte Carlo EPT Live Webcast.

I might give the Grosvenor a go tonight, see how it fairs, but apart from that its back to work :)
