Poker Karma and a Shitty Run

Well to be honest its never a good idea to blog when pissed off, but I guess its got to be done right?

*Appologies for rudey pooh words*

OK, I havent blogged in a while, as i haven’t played that much. Mainly im skint, but im playing well mostly. Nothing silly like, but to be honest like most people who go through a rut, it is supposed to swing. Im on a major downslide at the moment and to be honest it hurts.

Financially im fucked and the best way out at the moment is either one extreme or the other to get out of my hole. I need to either go bankrupt and that means im done untill im 30 (I have no assets or property of value, no dependants and im young(ish)!) or I look to get a property and consolidate my debts into that, thus owning a house and being able to manage my finances.

Either way, poker cant fit into my schedule at the moment unless its through a satellite or its a cheap buy in game that isnt a crapshoot.

Right, the poker. The last few games I have played I have either final tabled and taken back pretty much my buyin or bubbled. I last cashed 2 weeks ago in the £5 scalp tourney at the groves, played well but got to a crapshoot situation at the end where the 4 of us were pretty much all in every hand, I came 4th and took £40, its profit so all good.

I played the coachman on Friday and did shite, played my AJ on an Ace high flop into AK who limped pre. Ohh well my fault, did a little more in on the cash and in total for the buy in and my cash lost was £50 in the hole, but had a good crack on the beer and atmosphere.

This was planned to be my only game this pay cheque as im supposed to be going to Santa Pod to watch some fast cars burn up the tarmac early September. That aside i’m looking at my last £20 and 9pm tonight, i’m bored and think fuck it lets go play the Grosvenor as there should be some runners and a cheap entry.

Jobs a good un I think, lets make this the last game of the month and play like a trooper. The games a £5 semi and there turns out to be around 43 runners and £450 in the pot, so at least £200 for first.

My table to start with is alright, im dealing and start to see my first 3000 chips dwindle as we go through the first few levels, I get a break when I push with 66 and get called by jj and spike the 6 at the end, fair enough thats a good think and a suckout, i made the move though so couldn’t do any thing else. That takes me to 4k. I have another hit next when my A 10 hits top pair only to get a call from K J and the K J coming river and turn. That takes me to 1500 so I have my rebuy and proceed to take out flops till the end of the buyins. I top up and start the next stage with 5.5k.

I play steady and build it up to around 8k taking small pots, then proceed to get out flushed, Queen Flush against King Flush, loosing the minimum really. Down to 4k. I build it back up to 9k and then proceed to get rivered, my 2 pair against his 2 pair (same guy with the flush), but again loose the minimum really, by only calling his river bet. Back to 5k

I play some more small pot poker and build it up again to about 10k, then I get a player all in pre againt my KK, which luckily stand up. Getting better now and on 18k. A few more squeeze plays and im on 23k, with the table breaking for the last 20 players. The average now is about 16.8k so im comfy and thinking about how to play the minimum and wait for the perfect spot.

Well it doesnt take long and I see AA in late position with the blinds on 600/1200. UTG goes all in for about 8k, UTG+1 thinks and says im pretty sure im beating you so goes all in for about 11k. It folds to me and I re-raise to 22k to try and isolate, the guy next to me thinks and says its a tough fold and folds saying i think my AQ is good here! Hmmmm you think????

Sweet its looking like a nice chip lead here coming up, but ohh wait a minute is that a 3 on the flop! FUCK, yes it is, 3′s take it down. Ohh Well!

Right O, lets try again, blinds take me down to about 6k and I get KQ in mid, I raise it to 4k @ 800/1600, same guy with the 3′s flat calls, I hit a queen on the flop and push, he calls and his A J misses, so I get my double up, thinking thats slightly better justice.

Soon later we are down to 13 and the last hand before the break is announced. Mr 3′s goes all in for about 9k UTG, this looks dodgy to me and I think hes simply stealing as its the last hand and the majority will fold regardless for the toilet/fag break. I look down at JJ and have around 14k left, I push and they fold round. He looks annoyed and i was right, he was on the blag.

Double Fuck, he’s dicked me twice now!!

Whats happening here? Ohh well i have 5k to go into the break with and blinds at 1k/2k. First hand back and I get 7 7 UTG so I push, getting insta called by some nervous looking guy. It folds round and he has Q9, trying to be a funny fucker I think! I stand up and get 14k to play with.

We go around a little more and an im on the button, Mr 3′s raises it up to 6k, I look down at AA again and push all in, he just has me covered by about 4k, thinks and calls. I say, you better not suck out on me again here!

Flop 4 6 10 with 3 spades (i have the ace of spades) and he sucks it out again.
Turn 10!! My fucking word, what a bastard joke.
To rub my face in the shit, a spade on the river.

To summarize… The same person, I get him all in pre flop three times and have him dominated. Three times, I get horribly bad beat. Thing that pisses me off is I respect the fella as a good player and im sure he knows he has sucked out on me, but I cant help but feel so angry. I guess to the others I have a little Hellmuth and storm out with something like “This game is a fucking joke”, but I reckon its justified.

Now what, im sitting here writing a ranty post sounding like a whiney little bitch, feeling sorry for myself. Shit happens I guess, but for a life its pretty fricking shitty at the moment. So in realization, apart from the Pod, I think im through with poker, probably also through with drinking and going out. Im going to see if I can save money by staying in, eating cheap tins of value crap and feeling sorry for myself for a couple of months.

PS. I do have a couple of free tokens to the online stanley game 100k satellite, so will try that, you never know i might get lucky, but that will be it i reckon!
